October 2019

Our Family of Companies

Greetings all,

We hope you are off to a great start this fall! Coming off a busy summer season here at  HRG, we are fully engaged on a full slate of events, and excited to continue our collaboration with regional business organizations and leaders in the public and private sectors. Together, we make up a truly unique combination of people, products, and services that we offer - here in Westchester, and throughout the Hudson Valley.

As we continue to move forward on these collaborations, we are very excited to announce that HRG has formed 2 new strategic partnerships to support our goal to promote commerce and community in the region.

HRG is pleased to announce we have formed a strategic partnership with Nonprofit Westchester. NPW provides over 170 nonprofit and business members with consultation, connections, capacity building initiatives, and networking and advocacy events that strengthen Westchester County. HRG and NPW will be working together to drive economic vitality and advance equity, access and opportunity as a public/private sector partnership.

We are also excited to share news about the Hudson Valley Hospitality Institute, a collaborative effort between HRG, the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp, Abilities First, Jawonio, The Arc Dutchess, and Access Supports. Stay tuned for more details on our plans to help grow the hospitality sector here in the Hudson Valley.

In our Fall edition of the HRG Newsletter, we review the "Seed to Table" trend that is helping to cultivate further growth in this growing, $4.4B industry.

We hope you enjoy our newsletters, and look forward to hearing from you about topics you are interested in learning more about in future editions. As always, we invite you to review this and other breaking news on our  HRG In the News and HRG LinkedIn Group pages, and on Facebook.

Wishing you all the best for a fantastic fall!

Planting Seeds for Success in Hudson Valley Hospitality
The Hudson Valley is home to a unique combination of agribusinesses, historic venues, distinctive hotel properties, and the world's leading culinary arts school, and business is booming! According to a recent research published in a report by Oxford Economics , traveler spending in the region increased 19.2% in 2018, spurred by a surge in spending at wineries, breweries, and farms that offer tours and tables to enjoy their local produce.

Hotel properties and restaurants have also experienced a surge in growth, as they offer local fare and more creative culinary options, as they work closely with area producers who grow vegetables and fruits, and offer wine and beer from local wineries and breweries.
Today, area hospitality venues have found fertile ground for tourists and event planners who are looking for new F&B choices. The latest trend for restaurants and hotels is to offer creative pairings that start at the very earliest stage of the grower's cycle. Working with local farms, they plant crops in close collaboration with chefs, as they literally seed the market to help grow the hospitality industry throughout the region.
Ingredients For Success Are Here in the Hudson Valley
In keeping up with the demand for local produce from a more discerning clientele, chefs are keeping it local, as they create culinary experiences that can only be found here in our own backyard.
Sourcing locally has become so much more than a trend, and some have even taken it directly from seed to table, including the Farmer and the Fish in Purdy's.

With a growing marketplace and the right combination of complementary businesses there is no limit on where we can go to move ahead and expand hospitality as a vital contributor to our success!
Hudson Valley Hospitality - Bringing it All Together
Event planners are always looking for new options to offer, and we are so excited to see how our hospitality in the Hudson Valley is literally returning to our roots. To help keep our momentum growing, Hospitality Resource Group will be working with our industry and media partners on a major hospitality leadership event in 2020. Stay tuned!
