Our Family of Companies

A Letter from our Chairman:

Entrepreneurs have always been at the forefront of our economy, from the early days of Ben Franklin and Thomas Edison through the digital age of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. And while most of us have not reached that level of fame and fortune, innovation, collaboration and leadership continue to be the building blocks of success in today's hyper-competitive market.

At Hospitality Resource Group, we have approached our business with an entrepreneurial attitude from our start back in 1997, and it has been the key to our success in growing our business. Recently, HRG was featured in 914 Inc. in a story that covered our journey from the early days when I founded the company, to the challenges we survived during the 2009 recession, and through today, as we continue to offer our clients innovative event management, marketing and workforce training solutions.

In this month's edition of our HRG newsletter, we celebrate the arrival of spring and the growing season, and shine a light on the value of cultivating partnerships that promote commerce and community with our fellow entrepreneurs who are keeping our economic engines humming. As we move forward, we are confident our clients will share in our success and leverage strategic partners and public/private partnerships to build their businesses and brand equity.

We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter. If you have not already, we invite you to Follow us on our HRG LinkedIn Group page and on our Facebook page, and review past editions on our website at HRGinc.net

Wishing you continued success!

Regards and best,

Robert O. Sanders, Jr., CMP

Cultivating a Growth Business
"Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing". - Theodore Roosevelt

This famous quote reminds us of the rewards of being involved in mentoring, consultation and professional development, and no one knows this better than the entrepreneur. Today in the U.S., the popularity of owning and operating a business continues, as a recent study by Babson College and Baruch College reported 24 million people- over 14% of the working-age population- are engaged in entrepreneurial endeavors, which is the highest rate recorded since 1999.

And while it's one thing for a team of engineers to design the Segway, there are many examples of innovation and entrepreneurship that foster growth in our own market.

Here in the Hudson Valley, we are seeing a tremendous surge in new businesses, as smart, hardworking people are coming together to have a positive impact on our commerce and communities. Examples of the important initiatives currently underway that point to a positive future for our region include:
THE BET ON MY BUSINESS ACADEMY - Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC) and Hospitality Resource Group have partnered on this program that offers regional food and beverage entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to learn from national and regional hospitality experts about overcoming the critical challenges when taking a small business to the next level of success.
This first-of-its-kind intensive, interactive program includes a hybrid mix of classroom instruction and on-site job shadowing experiences at major hospitality locations throughout the region. HRG is working with prominent entrepreneurial business owners including celebrity chef Peter X Kelly of Xaviars Restaurant Group in the launch of this exciting program.
This summer, HVEDC will host The State of Entrepreneurism in the Hudson Valley, that will feature a diverse panel of experts who will come together to discuss the future of the Hudson Valley economy and the region's entrepreneurial landscape.
Later this fall, the HVEDC Food and Beverage Alliance will bring together regional entrepreneurs to hear from industry experts on how to grow their  businesses at the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park NY for the 4th Annual Beer, Wine, Spirits and Cider Summit in support of an industry with a $27B impact here in New York State.
Westchester Grow Conference
This event featured an outstanding panel of entrepreneurs from the Hudson Valley who have been leading the development of new businesses, leveraging partnerships to expand their markets with innovative solutions. Featured speakers included Leslie Whatley, EVP, StartUp NY, David Vogel, President and Founder, Video SEO Pro, Jennifer Ross, Owner/Founder, W@tercooler, and keynote speaker Andrew McMurray, the founder of Zipz.
McMurray, who is also Vice President of Zachy's Wine in Scarsdale, spoke about his experience developing this innovative packaging company, and the steps that led to his success in raising the most money in the history of Shark Tank two years ago.
Every day we come across inspiring success stories and breakthroughs from entrepreneurs who have fully leveraged the value in cultivating their success through strategic partnerships and organizations that are working closely together to drive our economy forward.

From the innovative youth programs in STEM education at the Digital Arts Experience to the creative culinary offerings offered throughout the Hudson Valley, it is a very exciting time to be a small business entrepreneur.

At HRG, we embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship in everything we do, from our event solutions strategies to our customized workforce training programs and brand development and marketing communications.
