November 2017

Our Family of Companies

Greetings all,

We checked the calendar, and it is telling us we are coming up on the end of 2017!

It's hard to believe yet another year has come and (almost) gone, but we have plenty of work ahead of us until we put this one in the books.

I would like to start by wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving, as this happens to be my favorite holiday, and I believe I am not alone!

Here at HRG,  our event management, training solutions, and marketing teams have developed many new client partnerships this year, and we continue to enjoy working with long-term relationships we have established over the course of our 20 years in business.

Later this month, we will be honored along with the Yonkers Public Library at the Inaugural Westchester Leaders of Vision presented by Literacy Solutions Inc. NY on Thursday, November 30th from 6-9pm at Yonkers Brewing Company. Tickets are still available! For more info and to register, visit  Literacy Solutions, Westchester Leaders of Vision.

In this month's newsletter, we review how employers are investing in their people to keep pace with an ever changing economic environment.

As part of our HRG 20th anniversary celebration, we would like to take this opportunity to salute our friends at Entergy, as we continue our partnership to promote and sponsor the nonprofit community in the greater Westchester area.

Please join us in thanking Entergy, as they have been a tremendous source of support, as presenting sponsors of our annual HRG NFP Educational Summit, and our You Are 'Cause' for Celebration event coming up on December 5th at the CV Rich Mansion in White Plains.

We hope you enjoy this edition of our newsletter. If you have a topic you would like us to cover about event planning and management, workforce development, or marketing communication and branding, please let us know, or comment on our HRG LinkedIn Group or Facebook page.
Wishing you continued success!

Regards and best,

Professional Development: Investing In People Moves Them Forward

Organizational leaders often accept and make business decisions based on the
assumption that market boundaries and industry conditions are given, and cannot be  changed.

However, a growing number of executives in the public and private sectors have supported and sponsored new leaders to help them grow, and at the same time, grow their organizations. This recent article in Forbes discussed how nonprofit organizations set themselves apart by investing in their people.

"....in my experience as a nonprofit leader, I've found employees to be the heart of any organization regardless of type or size. They're the key to taking any organization from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Employees who are empowered to achieve in their day-to-day work and career development challenge organizations to evolve and meet rising standards."

-Kevin Lynch, President & CEO at National Industries for the Blind

Many leaders have come to embrace a new approach to develop their people, centered on creating new markets, and looking at fresh new ways of doing business.

New Workforce Strategies Drives Development to New Heights

In well-established industries, new businesses  have been created in mature industry sectors, as people and organizations have evolved. From Amazon to Starbucks, and from iTunes to Uber, seismic shifts in the market are leading to profound changes in the way we live and work.

Cultivating new growth in organizations requires an evolution from traditional to competitive-based strategies led by people who are prepared to move them forward.

In a recent presentation at the NFP Educational Summit hosted by HRG, internationally acclaimed business consultant Ralph Trombetta shared his perspectives and practices as senior consultant with Blue Ocean Strategy, the best-selling book on market growth. Trombetta presented to over 200 nonprofit leaders on his experience working with corporations, to help nonprofit leaders move beyond traditional thinking to a new approach centered on growth.
Professional Development: Investing In People Moves Them Forward

The Blue Ocean Strategy and approach can also be applied to developing people within an organization, to create a growth mindset. HRG's Strategic Solutions team has been working with a number of organizations to help them grow through our management consulting services, ranging from our DiSC Personality Profile  in identifying  capabilities and skills, to the partnerships we have established to help promote professional development.

Some recent examples of our workforce partnerships include:
HVEDC Bet On My Business Academy - this innovative program was developed by HVEDC, the Food and Beverage Alliance, and HRG to help food and beverage entrepreneurs grow, though mentorship, on-site business reviews, and webinars.

Jobs Waiting Regional Healthcare Initiative- HRG has worked closely on workforce and job development with the Westchester/Putnam Workforce Development Board and the Westchester County Association, and with leading area healthcare organizations, including NY Presbyterian, WMC Health, ENT & Allergy Associates, WESTMED, Northwell, and many more.

Next Gen Nonprofit Advisory Board Boot Camp - HRG partnered with Volunteer NY! and The Westchester Community Foundation to develop a training program for aspiring area leaders to help match them with regional nonprofit organizations in search of board members.
Over 30 nonprofit employers joined with over 50 prospective board candidates in providing a platform to help nonprofit organizations sustain their growth.
Workforce Development: Delivering Innovative Training Solutions
Based on recent research on the dynamics of today's workforce, organizations have started to invest more in their people through professional development to help them fulfill both personal and career goals.

At HRG's Strategic Training Solutions, we are working with a growing number of clients who are looking for new ways to retain employees. Over the past year, forward-thinking organization leaders have reached out to us to help them in their efforts to promote professional development.
